What’s a girl to do on a blistering hot summer day? Get a refreshing beverage, of course! I just so happened to get a hankering for a cold drink when I was driving by my local Wendy’s. I pulled into the drive-thru an ordered me a frosty!
Get in my belly!
I don’t often go to Wendy’s, (In fact, I can’t even remember the last time I went before this!) so maybe their frostys (frosties? frostii?) have come in this cup for a while, but I’m pretty sure that the last time I got one, it just came in a regular drink cup. Not some fancy new-fangled plastic cup with a dome top lid.
I was in my car, it was hot, the drink was in my hand. I wanted to immediately gobble down the yummy. Unfortunately, I hit a snag.
The spoon doesn’t fit all the way in the hole in the top of the lid! Nooooooo! I actually had to man-handle my frosty to get the spoon in as far as I did. Once that spoon was in, there was no way that it was coming out. Translation: I had to wait until I got all the way home to take the lid off and indulge. I think I hit every red light on that drive home. (The frosty was teasing me!)
I’m just curious: who designed this? Did no one consider that I might use the drive-thru because I want to eat in the car? (Me hungry! Waiting bad!) Not to mention the fact that the frosty comes all the way up to the lip of the cup. Once you take the lid off, you are just waiting for some major spillage.
Luckily, I survived the interminable drive home and the frosty has since been demolished. Seriously though, Wendy’s, that ain’t right!
Should I write a letter to Wendy’s corporate office. (Would they give me a refund? That’d be cool!) What’s your favorite summer beverage? I’m usually more of a Sonic cream slush kind of girl, but they are a little pricey.*

I love blizzards! Unfortunately, the only DQ near me is 20 minutes away. (I just realized how spoiled that made me sound! Ha!) Point being, I don’t hit up DQ as much as I’d like.*
Man, that Frosty looks good! I haven’t had a Frosty in forever, and that looks way better than I remember it. The last time I got one as well, it came in the little drink cup. They got fancy.
It definitely is fancier. I wonder if they changed the cup so that it’s more like McDonald’s McFlurries. They also have the dome top lid. Hmm.*
Oh I love Frosty’s. Right now I’m loving the frozen lemonades from McD’s. So good on a hot summer day!!
I tried one of those frozen lemonades, but it was just ‘eh.’ Maybe I got a bad batch. I do love McDonald’s smoothies, though. I get those embarassingly frequently.*
Great – now I miss Wendy’s…lol! I would have to recommend writing the letter or you can call their customer service number, and tell them how much you appreciate their efforts to make their drinks look even cooler, but could they at least allow room for the spoon. It is similar to pringles can – sometimes you just have to let those hard to reach chips go. Hope it was as refreshing as you hoped for =)
OMG your comment just made me realize that I won’t be able to get any fun drinks when I’m living in Germany! That makes my heart sink a little. I guess I should drink up while I can. But Germany has got the lock on Fanta. Everywhere I went when I was visiting had Fanta, and it was definitely better than US Fanta.*
Since I’m in Texas for the summer, I’ve been taking advantage of having so many Sonics nearby and capitalizing on their Happy Hour (2-4pm every day!). Cherry limeades are the besty best.
Stephen loves cherry limeades! Although, we were so sad when we discovered that a limeade is just Sprite with lime. It was like the curtain had been pulled back, and we realized that Oz was just a man and not all-powerful. A loss of innocence, if you will.*
well i hate to tell you even more, but the cherry limeades at sonic, is just the “Minute Maid Cherry Limeade” you can buy in the grocery store. Only difference is they throw a cherry and piece of lime in your drink and of course the great crushed ice.
Heh, well you should be lucky you GOT a top to that frosty because we don’t get them in these parts.
I guess you could always use the straw maneuver till you get home and burn some calories while trying to suck it up a straw. I know. I’m no help.
I love Wendy’s. The hubs and I get their Frostys and Chili all the time. Love.

Absolutely let them know about your issues – they should have a customer service e-mail on their web site.
It is clearly that you enjoy your life, that’s great!! Yes, you can communicate with their customer service to let them know the problem when you have time!!
