Did you read yesterday’s post? If not, you missed my announcement that my husband is home! He’ll be here for less than a month, but considering the fact that we’ve been apart for 258 days, I’m just happy to have him back, even if it is only for a little while. I can’t wait to tell y’all the full story of our reunion! For now, though, I want to wrap things up with the Runner’s World Summer Running Streak.
The Numbers:
- I ran 38 days in a row without taking a day off. (Definitely a record for me!) That is every single day from Memorial Day through 4th of July
- The longest run was the 5k I ran with my friend Bianca.
- The shortest run was 1 mile, which is what I ran almost every single day.
- I ran over 45 miles total.

Me rocking out and running during the Heart of McKinney 5k at the end of June.
My Reflections:
-I wouldn’t have run every single day if it wasn’t for the challenge. There were a few days when I felt a twinge in my knee or soreness in my hamstrings. Had I been training for something or running longer distances, I would have taken that as a hint to rest up. Since I was just running for the heck of it and on short one milers, any pain usually just came and went without getting worse.
-Geronimo loved this challenge! He got 27 runs in with me, many of which were consecutive. I love that he enjoyed running with me and that he’d be pooped (and therefore less crazy) for the remainder of the day. It was also good bonding time for us!
-I really like running with few cares for speed or distance. It doesn’t exactly work like that when you are training, but it’s nice to mix this kind of low-key running in every once in a while.
-I miss training and running farther. I don’t think I can really do that until it cools down anyway. (Texas in July is not a runner’s friend.) When the time rolls around the train again, I’ll be ready to hop back into it!
-Overall, I’m proud of myself for running so many days in a row. (I really didn’t think I’d do it!) I would definitely do this again next summer when the conditions are sure to be hot as balls again. I doubt I’d do this any other time then during a running (and work) lull.
Any other streakers out there? How many days is the most you’ve run in a row? I have many gone 3 days in a row before this, but not more than that. What can I say? I’m a girl who loves her rest days!*
