Hello there! Instead of coming to you from the leather chair in my office, I’m sitting on beautiful white furniture in the blue guest room of my dad’s house. I took an impromptu trip to Florida!
I found out last week that my Grandma Jane had a bit of a health scare. She’s in the hospital and she’s mostly okay, but I’m worried about the long-term prognosis. I decided that there was no time like the present, so I hopped a plane (and another and another and another and another. It takes a lot of planes to get to Florida!) to come spend a few days here.
I feel like I’ve already gotten the true Florida experience: I went running in what felt like 5000% humidity (they could change the name to the Sweatshine State!), I watched geckos scurry around, caught a glimpse of some Florida deer, had a funny conversation with a 92-year-old WWII veteran, made a sandwich on Publix bread, and saw a rain storm roll in and roll out in late afternoon. I used to wonder why people would want to move here (oh, the humidity!) but it is such a gorgeous place to live. The flowers, wildlife, and lush landscape make up for the dampness in the air. And the people here are just the nicest. I think every single person I ran by on my walk today gave me a wave and a smile. Can’t beat that.
I’ll be back in EP by mid-week, back to work, and back to my routine. But for now, I’m enjoying lots of quality time with some very important people.
