As of today, Stephen and I have been together for 12 years.
We’ve only been married for 4 years, but I refuse to stop counting our total number of years together when we celebrate anniversaries. (We put in a lot of hard work in the years before we got married!)
Earlier this week we put all our wedding photos in an album. I made an album via Snapfish way back when, but we wanted to have printouts of every single photo from our wedding day. (Yes, I am both a huge narcissist and a huge procrastinator.) We spent an hour giggling and reminiscing as we sorted through the pictures.
We talked about how weird the reception food was but how good the cake tasted. We remembered what a sob-fest the speeches were. I’m still surprised that I didn’t cry during the ceremony and that Stephen cried so much. We are glad we decided on including the Jewish elements (the Rabbi wrapping us in his tallit, drinking the wine, the chuppah, the Hebrew, smashing the glass).
We felt so lucky that day. To have each other, but also to have such loving friends and family surrounding us.
It was just one day out of many that we’ve shared together, but it was a really good day. Sign me up for another dozen just like that one!
